Guardia del Corpo was founded may 2020 and we are located in Virginia Beach, Va. We are registered breeders through the International Cane Corso Federation (ICCF). All our puppies are registered with ICCF, AKC, or both. We do not interbreed or breed for profit. The purpose of Guardia Del Corpo is to continue this majestic dog's lineage.
The ICCF Registry is the oldest Cane Corso registry in the world and the most complete stud book in the United States, recognizing hundreds of Cane Corsi as having obtained Grand Championships, Championships, or working titles. When Cane Corsi were first recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 2010, AKC relied heavily upon the ICCF registry to verify blood lines when accepting dogs into their enrollment. All our dogs have 32 generations of bloodlines. This is proof of the purity and strict adherence to preserving our Cane Corsi.
The Cane Corso lineage stretches all the way back to ancient Roman times. When bred correctly they are the perfect dog for protection of families with children. The Cane Corso has a fierce, imposing look, and air about them. They are a confident breed that will easily dissuade a potential intruder to think again before entering the homeowners property. Cane Corsi are natural guard dogs and will take to guarding their territory as soon as 8-9 months of age. They can grow to weigh as much as 150 lbs in some cases.
This is the reason we take great care in choosing which dogs to breed. If not careful an inexperienced breeder can easily breed puppies that grow to be aggressive and potentially turn on their owners. If care is not taken in selecting the right temperaments when breeding, the puppies can grow to be overly aggressive dogs and can develop anxiety problems.
When considering we are dealing with a very large and extremely powerful dog, picking the correct breeder who breeds for the purpose of promoting less aggressive puppies is paramount. This does NOT mean that our Cane Corsi will not defend their owners and property with their lives. It means that our dogs are more conditioned to live indoors with family and not cause as many problems. Cane Corsi have been bred for hundreds of years to guard and hunt. To naturally guard has been solidified into their genes. Therefore early socialization is absolutely key when getting a puppy.
We start socialization as soon as our puppy has received all of their shots. Taking them to places that are pet friendly and local dog parks to teach them how to interact with other dogs. If early socialization is not done these dogs can become aggressive to other dogs and friends that come over to your house. Cane Corsi are highly intelligent and able to determine threats to the owner. All of our Cane Corsi are raised in the house with our family and are highly socialized. They are raised with our two children, three young nieces and three cats. All of our puppies are exposed to household sights and sounds. They are raised around cats and taught not to chase them.
The Cane Corso is a large and very powerful dog, and if not properly bred can -- and will -- become a danger to society and to their owners as well. We are dedicated to providing puppies with the best temperaments possible. All our dogs are well socialized around people of all ages and other animals. Our puppies are born and raised in a home with children and other animals. We are dedicated to the preservation of these regal canines. We health check and work hand in hand with our vet to assure all our dogs are properly cared for; this ensures we breed only the healthiest and most suitable puppies. Guardia del Corpo's purpose is to preserve this beautiful breed's integrity. We seek to provide the best Cane Corsi the breed can offer.
Guardia Del Corpo guarantees the puppy is in good health, has had its first round of immunizations, has been dewormed, and has been health verified by a licensed veterinarian by the time the buyer takes possession.
